In the 2021 Major League Baseball season, 5% of players chose to swing Canadian maple wood bats—better known as the “Sam Bat.” Sam Holman, founder of The Original Maple Bat Corporation, invented the bat by choosing maple wood, a harder wood than the traditionally used ash. So, if you see a professional player with a little bat logo on their baseball bat, that’s one of the 18,000 sluggers made in Canada each year at the Sam Bat plant in Carleton Place, Ontario.

When we are looking for a gift for someone we love, particularly if that gift is for an important event, we plan long in advance, wanting to find the perfect gift. We want it to be memorable and special. The Bible tells us that is how God feels when He gives things to us. The apostle writes this in James 1:17: “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” Our Creator knows us so well. He understands what a perfect gift would be for us, and He has provided these in abundance. Every gift that God gives is just right for our needs and according to our nature. It’s no wonder that often through the day we experience His blessing. As you live your life today, take time to consider every blessing that comes your way. Stop along the way to give thanks to the Lord Jesus for providing such a perfect gift. We are reminded that God doesn’t change, and He loves you just as much today as He did yesterday. His gifts remain perfect, too.
