Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.

Do Not Lean

Last August 16, a two-storey building near Kensington Market in Toronto that police said was “leaning” toward the sidewalk and in danger of collapsing had been deemed unsafe by the city back in 2014. The city said the “unsafe structure” had finally been removed. Demolition crews began removing portions of the building, which was located at Dundas Street W. and Augusta Avenue. The remaining structure needed to be further assessed before being deemed safe, the city said.

We all need people to lean on. When the challenging times come, having someone who will stand with us is worth more than gold. Having someone we can call upon often carries us through the most difficult of times. Which leads us to one of the most precious promises in God’s Word, found in Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” When we are seeking direction in life, there is only one way to ensure that we will remain in the centre of God’s will for our lives. By trusting completely in the Lord Jesus, not trusting our own will and plan, our lives will make sense and have purpose and direction. It takes a decision to submit fully to Jesus’ Lordship in our lives, and following Him wherever He takes us. As we do so, day by day our lives with make sense and we will have peace knowing that God is taking care of us, directing us and providing for us. Trust in the Lord and lean on Him fully.

These have been words from the heart.
