For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6 NIV
A Son is Given
To adopt a child from a foreign country, you must meet both the adoption requirements of the province or territory where you live and the adoption requirements of the child’s home country. Before you can bring your adopted child to Canada, you must apply and obtain either Canadian citizenship or permanent residence on behalf of the child. If you live outside Canada and would like to adopt a child, you should contact the adoption authority of the country where you live to understand their adoption requirements.

In their beautiful Christmas song, 4Him writes about the arrival of Jesus from Joseph’s perspective. The chorus says, “Why me, I’m just a simple man of trade? Why Him with all the rulers of the world? Why here inside this stable filled with hay? Why her, just an ordinary girl? Now I’m not one to second-guess what angels have to say. But this is such a strange way to save the world.” Indeed, it is, but it had been God’s plan all along. So, he spoke into the heart of the prophet centuries before the Messiah Jesus’ arrival and in Isaiah 9:6, he writes: “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” A boy child will be born. He will start out life simply, so He will get us fully. He will know pain. He will understand temptation. He will weep. This One who is fully God will take on life, born just like us. A son is given. Son of Mary. Son of God.
These have been words from the heart.
