May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.
1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 NIV
Blameless
Robert Stanfield once said, “Canada is a country of immense potential and unlimited possibilities.” Winston Churchill said of our nation “There are no limits to the majestic future which lies before the mighty expanse of Canada with its virile, aspiring, cultured, and generous-hearted people.” Norman Angell said, “God has made Canada one of those nations which cannot be conquered and cannot be destroyed, except by itself.” Yan Martell said “I love Canada. It’s a wonderful political act of faith that exists atop a breathtakingly beautiful land.”

People can say all sorts of things about Canada. Most of us love living in Canada and are happy to be Canadians. But we know that our country is not perfect. Things have happened in the past that are not good, and things are happening now that concern us. Canada is not perfect because it is a country filled with 40 million imperfect people. In light of this, Paul’s comment in 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 is surprising, “May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.” We know we’re not perfect but because of Jesus, we will stand before the Lord one day blameless. Our sin was placed on Him on the Cross, and because of this, we will stand before God the judge and He will see us through the righteousness of Christ. What a joy to know that when we confess our sin and repent, He removes it, and one day we will stand before Him blameless.
These have been words from the heart.
