So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Isaiah 41:10 NIV

Renewed Strength

Chief of the Defence Staff Gen. Wayne Eyre says the Canadian Armed Forces is facing many new challenges and will need to move quickly to cope. In a speech delivered to one of Ottawa’s “Mayor’s Breakfast” networking events, Eyre said the military will need to adapt swiftly to changes in technology, geopolitics and culture to be effective. He didn’t mince words when speaking about the CAF’s need to modernize. Overall, the armed forces that we have today is not the armed forces we need for the future,” he said.

I just heard a report last evening about an Olympian who, just a few years ago, broke her leg. The doctor gave her no chance of ever running again, and certainly not at the world-class level in which she was competing. Her mom and dad said in the interview that they never told their daughter what the doctor had said. So, when her leg healed, she got back to running, and this past summer she competed at the Paris Olympics, her strength fully renewed. There is a spiritual principle here. The prophet writes this in Isaiah 41: “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Israel was surrounded by nations that wanted to eradicate her – some things never change. She was weak and feeling like her strength was gone – like we feel so often. So, God promises to restore her strength – and ours. If you are feeling weak right now, trust God to grant you His strength.

These have been words from the heart.
