It has given me great joy to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as the Father commanded us.

Walking in the Truth
The Trans Canada Trail is the longest thru-hike in the world. The trail crosses all Canadian provinces and has a total length of more than 28,000 kilometres. This thru-hike connects all three oceans around Canada: the Atlantic Ocean, the Pacific Ocean, and the Arctic Ocean. Along the way, you will pass 15,000 rural, city, and indigenous communities. Combine this with unique landscapes, a variety of seasons, and special experiences, and the Trans Canada Trail has everything that you are looking for in a (very) long-distance hike.

I love reading John’s epistles. He is an old man living on the Greek island of Patmos, having spent his life taking the Gospel wherever the Spirit led Him. History tells us that he trained the early church father Polycarp, who in turn trained Irenaeus. Ignatius of Antioch was also a student of John. He poured his life into others, sharing with them the stories of Jesus, who then carried them into future generations of followers of Jesus. So, it shouldn’t surprise us that John would write these words in 2 John 1:4: “It has given me great joy to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as the Father commanded us.” There is no greater joy for a pastor or Christian mentor, to watch someone they have taught and discipled to stand strong in the Lord. One of the blessings of social media is keeping in touch with those who are thriving in ministry, stalwart followers of Jesus. You are blessing someone today who helped you be established in your walk with Jesus. Why not take a moment to connect with them, if possible, to encourage them that you are doing well in Christ.
These have been words from the heart.
