For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.
1 Thessalonians 4:14 NIV
Belief in the Resurrection
Across Canada, small towns are experiencing remarkable economic resurrection thanks to the growing buy-local movement. Residents and businesses are choosing to support independent stores, farmers, artisans, and entrepreneurs, keeping money circulating within their communities. From bustling farmers’ markets to eco-friendly tourism, these towns are proving that local economies can thrive when people prioritize homegrown business. This shift not only strengthens regional economies but also fosters community resilience, sustainability, and unique cultural identities, causing communities to rise to new heights of prosperity.

There is an old saying that we all know – there are only two things in this life that are certain – death and taxes. Here in Canada, Tax Freedom Day is June 8 – up until that day every dime the average Canadian earns goes to a tax of some sort or another. As for the other, death, unexpectedly or not, is certain. It has been a part of the human experience ever since Adam and Eve disobeyed God. Death held power until Jesus rose from the grave on Resurrection Day. Paul writes about Jesus’ resurrection this way in 1 Thessalonians 4:14: “For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.” Paul has been speaking about the hope we have when a loved one, who loves Jesus passes away. We grieve, but not like those who have no hope. Paul then goes on to say that our hope is based on our confidence in Jesus’ resurrection. Because Jesus rose from the dead, so will all of us who have put our trust in Him. Hallelujah.
These have been words from the heart.
