How sweet are your words to my taste,
sweeter than honey to my mouth!
Psalm 119:103 NIV

Canada’s maple syrup reserve – the world’s only – has reached a 16-year low, raising questions about the future of a globally loved sweet staple in the face of climate change. The reserve, located in Quebec, is designed to hold 60 million kilograms of maple syrup at any given year. But in 2023, the supply fell to 3.1 million kilograms. Experts link the shortage to both a rise in demand and warmer weather. But they say that this will not affect the availability or price of maple syrup to consumers – at least for now.

My brother is an amazing gardener, and to keep his flowers pollinated, he keeps bees. He has explained beekeeping to me, and I always find it fascinating. It is quite the science. What I like most about it is the honey that comes our way every Christmas. There is nothing better on a fresh piece of homemade bread than fresh honey from Tom’s hives. King David obviously enjoyed fresh honey as well and uses it to describe God’s word. In Psalm 119:103 he writes, “How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!” There is much about God’s Word that is like honey. The Bible brings sweetness to the soul of anyone who reads it. Like honey, which never loses its taste or spoils – honey found in ancient Egyptian tombs is still edible – God’s Word remains as true today as ever. Take time today in God’s Word and allow it to sweeten your life and provide all you need for spiritual health and vitality. There is nothing sweeter for your soul than the honey of God’s Word.
These have been words from the heart.
