“Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

Luke 2:14 NIV

Glory to God

One of the glories of France is the celebration of Bastille Day on July 14. If you are looking to celebrate Bastille Day in Canada this year, your best bet is to head to Montréal, home to just over half of the 121,525 people who had immigrated from France to Canada at the time of the 2021 Census of Population. Immigration from France to Canada has been trending upward since the beginning of the millennium. Over half of immigrants from France to Canada have arrived since the beginning of the new millennium.

There are a lot of things that bring glory to God. His creation certainly does. So does a godly man or woman who is living a consistently godly life. Every transformed life, redeemed by the grace of God through Jesus Christ, certainly brings glory to God. And then there is the birth of Jesus. Centuries of prophecies came together at His birth, and the angels proclaimed glory to God at that moment. Luke 2:14 says, “‘Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favour rests.’” But the glory that Jesus’ birth brought was not just for then. For the past two millennia, the birth of Jesus has brought glory to God. All of history is measured by His coming. And because He was born, He was able to live His life and complete the purpose for His coming – His death would redeem millions, and His resurrection guaranteed their eternal life. As the Korean Christmas carol says, “Christmas shines with Easter glory, glory of eternity.” Take time today, on this day after Christmas, to give Him the glory.

These have been words from the heart.
