Crucified

Fathers and daughters always have special relationships but one High River Albert duo has proven their bound is especially strong. When Amanda Kemery saw how long the wait was going to be for her father Terry Coleman to get a kidney transplant, she didn’t think twice about volunteering to be a living donor. The testing process took a full year and on August 9, 2017, they had the surgery. They were both in the hospital for up to a week and took another six weeks to recover.

Today is Good Friday. Only those who have experienced the result of what happened on this day some 2000 years ago can call this day Good. To many, it matters no more than any other day, and Jesus’ death is at best just one of countless crucifixions that the Romans used to punish their enemies – at worst a great miscarriage of justice. If they are correct, this was a very bad day indeed. Mark 15:25-26 says, “It was nine in the morning when they crucified him. The written notice of the charge against him read: THE KING OF THE JEWS.” The Romans, in writing these words above His head on the cross, without knowing it got it right. Jesus was indeed the King, but not just of the Jews. They were crucifying the King of kings. And because He is, this turned out to be a very good day. The best ever. It was the completion of what Jesus Himself said in Mark 10:45: “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” This is why today is Good Friday.
