November 11 is Remembrance Day in Canada, a tradition that goes back to 1919 when a memorial day was established honouring those who have bravely fought and sacrificed for their country. On this day, we pause, reflect, and turn our thoughts and prayers to those who have served – and continue to serve – their country during times of war, conflict, and peace.
In Deuteronomy 4:9b, we read, “…do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them fade from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them.” (NIV), reminding us that remembering the past is important for our future. And so, we remember and pray.
