Words from the Heart for Wednesday October 26th, 2016
We know that God, who raised the Lord Jesus, will also raise us with Jesus and present us to himself together with you.
2 Corinthians 4:14 (NLT)
Raised with Christ
The tomb where Jesus was laid is empty. The power that raised Jesus from the dead will raise us as well. So press on! There is a day that is coming when you will be completely new!
This past July, concerns were raised in both Canada and the US when a Wisconsin city was given permission to draw water from the Great Lakes after eight states approved a precedent-setting request. This means that the city of Waukesha, which is outside the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence River basin, has become the first exception to an agreement banning diversions of water away from this water system. The city of about 70,000 people asked to divert water from Lake Michigan because its own aquifer is running low and the water is contaminated with high levels of naturally occurring, cancer-causing radium. The concern is that this could set a dangerous precedent for other communities facing water shortages. The representatives of eight states adjoining the Great Lakes gave Waukesha’s $207-million proposal unanimous approval this past June.
The most exciting day in the history of the world was a Sunday morning when a tomb in Jerusalem that had been filled with the body of Jesus Christ was found to be empty. It remains empty to this day. On Resurrection Sunday, death was defeated and hope rose with Jesus. The Bible says He is the firstborn of all who would also one day be raised to eternal life. 2 Corinthians 4:14 says “We know that God, who raised the Lord Jesus, will also raise us with Jesus and present us to himself together with you.” This is one of the greatest promises in the Bible. Just as Jesus was raised from the dead, so will all who have trusted Him as Saviour and Lord. Death had come into the human experience because of sin. It was Satan’s greatest victory. So when Jesus was raised from the dead, that greatest of all demonic victories was itself defeated. Never again would death hold fear for anyone who had given their lives to Jesus Christ. We have the assurance that the moment we gave our lives to Jesus, we received the gift of eternal life. Death just becomes the door to an eternity with the Lord, enjoying the peace that the world longs for. And the day will come when resurrection power will be unleashed by the One who claimed to be the Resurrection and the Life. Have you trusted Jesus Christ? If so, you have the assurance that the same Resurrection that Jesus experienced you will too.
These have been words from the heart.
