Words from the Heart for Wednesday June 1st, 2016

God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth …” So God created [them]…according to [their] kind. And God saw that it was good. God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the fifth day.

Genesis 1:20-23 (NIV)

The Fifth Day

God fills His creation with delightful animals and everything they need for life. Have you considered how God meets the needs of all of His creation? Thank Him for His care for all things and trust Him to meet your daily needs.

The province of Alberta contains two of the five largest cities in Canada, Calgary, in third place and Edmonton, the fifth largest city in Canada. Edmonton’s geographical location is unique to North America – it is the most northern located city with a metropolitan population over one million. Edmonton’s historic growth has been facilitated through the absorption of five adjacent urban municipalities and a series of annexations ending in 1982. Known as the “Gateway to the North”, the city is a staging point for large-scale oil sands projects occurring in northern Alberta and large-scale diamond mining operations in the Northwest Territories.
Edmonton is a cultural, governmental and educational centre. It hosts a year-round slate of festivals, reflected in the nickname “Canada’s Festival City”. It is home to North America’s largest mall, West Edmonton Mall, which was the world’s largest mall from 1981 until 2004, and Fort Edmonton Park, Canada’s largest living history museum.

I never cease to be amazed at the variety of fish and birds on the planet. With all the traveling I do, I have the pleasure of seeing birds in their natural habitat from temperate to tropical. Every time scientists are able to dive a little deeper into the planet’s seas and oceans, they find new species of marine life. In the harshest climate on the earth in Antarctica, even there you find penguins and the sea life that provides life for these hardy birds. The Bible tells us that this was all a part of God’s plan in creation. Genesis 1:20-23 puts it this way: “God said, ‘Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth …’ So God created [them]…according to [their] kind. And God saw that it was good. God blessed them and said, ‘Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.’ And there was evening, and there was morning—the fifth day.” I never cease to be amazed at God’s creative genius. God built flight into the birds and the ability for fish to filter the oxygen out of water in order to breath. He designed camouflage for safety and colour for beauty. And the Bible tells us that if He took that much care in creating birds how much more important are you to Him.

These have been words from the heart.
