Words from the Heart for Wednesday August 16th, 2017
The Lord will work out his plans for my life— for your faithful love, O Lord, endures forever. Don’t abandon me, for you made me.
Psalm 138:8 (NLT)
His Plans for My Life
This promise of the Lord’s desire to work out His plans for our life is not limited just to young people starting out in life. At every age, He is our Lord with faithful love. Be assured and comforted that He won’t run out on you. He does not abandon those He has lovingly made. No one else can be trusted like our God. His faithful love doesn’t stop.
No one plans to live in poverty. In fact, most people have a desire to live as comfortably as possible and the wisest make plans to be able to live comfortably even after retirement. Fortunately, here in Canada, more people are able to see their plans come true. As of 2012, Canadian families had a total asset of $8.1 trillion, more than double what it was 13 years ago. That works out to a median family net worth of $244,000, compared to just $137,000 in 1999. Poverty does remain a problem in Canada, with Statistics Canada’s new measure suggesting there are 4.7 million low income households. However, the percentage of Canadian households defined as low-income had dropped to 8.8 per cent by 2011, compared to 15 per cent in the late 1990s.
Life can be a challenge. Far too often we make our plans and then are devastated when the plans fail. We begin our day and are frustrated when nothing we plan to do that day gets accomplished. We have dreams and aspirations and before we know it, life seems to have passed us by and we are left with broken dreams. Is there any way that we can set plans, and dream dreams that we are sure can come to pass? The answer is found in Psalm 138:8: “The Lord will work out his plans for my life— for your faithful love, O Lord, endures forever. Don’t abandon me, for you made me.” If you want your plans to succeed, align your plans to God’s plans for your life. The Psalmist knew that if God sets His plans for your life the plans will come to pass. There is nothing that can thwart our plans when they line up with God’s plans for our lives. The Psalmist tells us why. God’s faithful love endures forever. He loves us, the Psalmist says, because He created us. The result is that He will never abandon us. You can count on that today – no matter what comes your way, God is with you, guiding your life. What a blessing to know that He is in control of our lives. Trust Him no matter what comes your way. Your Creator, who crafted you beautifully, loves you unconditionally.
