“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”

John 14:3-4 (NIV)

Where I Am

What an amazing word to hear from Jesus! He was announcing a prepared place and told them they knew how to get there. They were eager to make those plans and wanted to make sure they would be on the right path. Take time to memorize the answer Jesus gave them. He would personally be the way (v. 6).

There really is no place like home. Especially when we are fortunate enough to call Canada home. When asked what she loved most about Canada, Author Heather Greenwood Davis, who was born in Jamaica and brought to Canada when she was a little girl, was asked by the Globe and Mail what she loved most about Canada. She said this “I love that so much of our country’s collective pride is wrapped up in the fact that so many Canadians weren’t born here but instead chose to be here. As a family travel writer I’ve taken my sons around the world and back. Each time we return and catch that first glimpse of a Canadian flag we’re reminded of all that it stands for – and how lucky we are to call it home.”

It has been over 2000 years since Jesus was on this earth. He has promised that He will be back, but because of how long it has been since He left, many doubt that He is ever coming back. But Jesus was, and is, the Way, the Truth and the Life. He is, by nature, Truth. Just as you cannot wake up tomorrow morning and be a spider, God cannot cease being Truth. So when Jesus says that He is coming back, you can take that to the bank. And He is coming back with a purpose. In John 14:3-4 Jesus says ““And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.” God the Creator crafted a plan for the redemption of the world. Sin had separated mankind from him, and so God put in place a two-part plan. The first step was Jesus coming as the perfect God-man, dying in our place in order to redeem us from the power and reign of the devil. By so doing we have the joy of being able to offer our prayer and petition to God the Father anytime. Jesus will come again to complete the plan – to take us to be with Him so that our fellowship with our Creator will be as it was in the beginning.
