Words from the Heart for Tuesday May 24th, 2016
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)
God is With Us
Are you afraid? Are you tempted to worry? Have you forgotten where God is? Remember that God is more eager to help you and will always act in a just way as He cares for you!
The CBC reported in 2009 that an estimated 2.8 million Canadians are living abroad, and naturalized Canadians leave the country at three times the rate of those born here. In a ten-year period from 1996 to 2006, the emigration rate for naturalized citizens of Canada was 4.5%, and only 1.3% for those born in Canada. A member of the Canadian “diaspora” was defined as a Canadian citizen who has lived abroad for one year or more. The study’s authors said that eliminates the possibility of including foreign nationals who have no inherent right of return to Canada. The report’s findings also state that: 57 per cent of all overseas Canadians live in the United States, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom or Australia. Young Canadians — those between 21and 25 years old — left Canada at twice the overall average rate.
At the heart of the Good News of the Gospel is the promise of God’s presence with us. Jesus is named Immanuel, which means “God with us” and 2000 years ago, born to a virgin, Jesus stepped into our world. One of those who walked with Him wrote in 1 John 1:1: “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched – this we proclaim concerning the Word of life.” For some 33 years Jesus the Creator walked on this earth. And before He returned to Glory, He promised that by the Holy Spirit He would be with us to the end of the age. All of this was promised long before Jesus was born in Bethlehem. The prophet wrote in Isaiah 41:10: “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Every human being longs for a relationship with our Creator, but because of sin, He seems removed from us. But God loves us and as much as we long for a relationship with Him, even more He longs for a relationship with us. God is with us, and you can trust Him to draw alongside, and fill your heart with His peace and joy. Reach out to Jesus today in faith. He is with you.
