Words from the Heart for Thursday November 23rd, 2017
Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! Let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare His works with rejoicing.
Psalm 107:21-22 (NKJV)
The Sacrifices of Thanksgiving
The works of our wonderful Lord must be celebrated! It’s time to thank Him for His goodness. Our lives are filled with the story of His unfailing love. No need to keep quiet about all that He has done. Let the thanksgiving begin. Those who hear will have their faith built, too!
Juliana Arenas is from Colombia and recently told a reporter from the Vancouver Province that she wanted to express her thanks to Canada. She said, “I’m thankful because when you come from a country where you are scared all the time, for your life or your family’s life, and you come to a culture where all people welcome you, give you a peaceful community, that is a good reason to be grateful. I want to say thank you to all Canada.”
It baffles me that there are so many people who refuse to offer thanks to the God who provides all things. The book of James says that every good and perfect gift comes from “the Father of lights.” God’s name is Jehovah Jireh – the Lord who provides. At the same time, so few people recognize this and so fail to express the thanks that God so justly deserves. Psalm 107:21-22 says “Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! Let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare His works with rejoicing.” This is the heart cry of so many who know and love the Lord. Our desire is that all would recognize the goodness of God and give Him praise. There is a sacrifice to thanksgiving. We must recognize that all we have doesn’t ultimately come by our hard work or entitlement, but because of God’s grace and love for His people. We sacrifice our pride and self-sufficiency in order to recognize the greatness of our God. How can you sacrifice in order to give God thanks today?
These have been words from the heart.
