So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith.

Galatians 3:26 (NIV)

Children of God

Faith in Jesus Christ ties us together with other believers. Are your relationships with other believers marked by a desire to maintain the unity of the Spirit and oneness in Christ? Are you seeking to live peacefully with others?

Listen to Words from the Heart

Seventeen out of Canada’s twenty-two prime ministers are acknowledged to have fathered children, not including Wilfred Laurier who was alleged to have fathered two illegitimate children with Emile Lavergne or John Diefenbaker who was also alleged to have fathered two illegitimate children. Kim Campbell, Canada’s only female Prime Minister did not have any children of her own, but was a stepmother to her first husband Nathan Divinsky’s daughters. Her stepdaughter Pamela assisted on Campbell’s campaign bus during the 1993 election. William Lyon Mackenzie King and Richard B. Bennett were both bachelors. Wilfred Laurier and Robert L. Borden were married, but had no children. Three of Canada’s Prime Ministers were particularly prolific. Sir John Abbott, Sir John Thompson and Sir Mackenzie Bowell each had nine children. Four of Canada’s Prime Ministers had sons who were elected as Members of Parliament.

No one can give someone more joy and more heartbreak than our children. From the moment they are born they fill our hearts with love and our lives with purpose. No matter how old they get they will always be our children. The Bible speaks of those who are born into the family of God through faith. Galatians 3:26 says “So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith.” Paul is writing to believers in Galatia. The churches in this part of the world were founded by Paul. When Paul left, the churches were led astray from Paul’s teachings about salvation by grace through faith alone. So Paul writes to them to remind them that no matter what their background – Jew or Greek, slave or free, man or woman – they had all become the children of God through faith in Jesus Christ. This is the heart of the Gospel. God has a family. It consists of men and women from every nation, tribe and tongue, who have been born again by faith in Jesus Christ. Paul was concerned that these children were being caught up in legalism and losing the freedom that Jesus had died to provide. He loves us deeply and wants us to live in the liberty that He continues to provide by grace, each and every day. Are you a child of God by faith in Jesus Christ? Live in the freedom He provides His children.
