Words from the Heart for Thursday May 26th, 2016

He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak….but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Isaiah 40:29, 31 (NIV)

God Gives Strength

The One who holds the stars in place (Is. 40:26) is the one who helps weak people. He gladly exchanges your weakness with His strength. Have you asked Him for His power to work through your weaknesses?

Canada is a world leader in science, technology and innovation, and is recognized as one of the most innovative and competitive economies in the world. From breakthroughs in medicine to advancements in communications technologies, Canadian innovations have transformed the world. Canada generates over 4% of global knowledge, despite accounting for just .5% of the world’s population. Canada’s performance is consistently strong in measures related to the quality of education, market regulation, and social factors. Since 2006, over $9 billion in support of science, technology, and the growth of innovative firms has been funded by the federal government, fostering a world-class research and innovation system that supports Canadian businesses and economic growth. Over the last few years, the Government of Canada has increased its focus and placed more emphasis on science, technology and innovation as key elements of growing Canada’s national prosperity.

Life can be exhausting. Not only physically but emotionally and spiritually as well. Physically we can regain our strength through sleep, a healthy diet and exercise. But how do we renew our strength spiritually? Isaiah 40:29-30 tells us “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak…but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” There are a couple of great promises here. First, the prophet begins by speaking about how a person who is spiritually exhausted can renew his or her strength. He tells us that God wants to give strength to the weary. But the weary have a part to play – they need to place their hope in the Lord. It’s a matter of faith. Trusting that the Lord really does love us and wants to give to us all that we need to be spiritually strong and walk in victory. If you find that you are easily defeated, and keep failing spiritually, God is willing to supply all you need. The rest of the promise looks forward. Not only will the Lord provide all you need for now, but He promises His strength and power moving forward. He wants His children to spiritually soar, to run the marathon that is the Christian life without tiring one bit. Trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and keep your eyes on Him. And expect His power to be unleashed in you.
