Words from the Heart for Thursday January 19th, 2017

But I trust in your unfailing love. I will rejoice because you have rescued me. I will sing to the Lord because he is good to me.

Psalm 13:5-6 (NLT)

His Unfailing Love

This is a statement of joyous celebration. What a wonderful God we serve. We can certainly trust in His unfailing love. Put your name in this verse and declare it as praise unto the Lord. And, include the names of those on your prayer list, too. He will rescue them and bring rejoicing to their lives.

France’s Prime Minister, Manuel Valls, visited Canada this past October for his first official visit. In announcing the visit of Prime Minister Valls, Canada’s Prime Minister stated “Canada is committed to deepening relations with France, building on the significant commercial, historical, and cultural ties both countries enjoy. This includes an unfailing commitment to promote the French language both at home and around the world.” Prime Minister Valls met with Prime Minister Trudeau to explore how to increase commercial flows between the two countries, including opportunities provided under the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement. The leaders also examined how Canada and France can work together to fight climate change and foster opportunities for youth, how to increase collaboration in science, innovation and technology, and promote protection for women and children.

People fail all the time. A friend of mine posted on Facebook that she was trying to finish a gift for a friend and she was making so many mistakes it wasn’t going to look at all like she wanted it to. That is a good picture of our spiritual lives. We make so many mistakes that our hearts don’t look at all like we wish they did. We fail ourselves, our loved ones and our God. Only God never fails, at anything He does. Psalm 13:5-6 tells us “But I trust in your unfailing love. I will rejoice because you have rescued me. I will sing to the Lord because he is good to me.” Nothing about God fails, but the most precious promise is that God’s love never fails. No matter what we have done, He loves us. You can trust this. God’s love can never fail because His nature is love. The love that He so perfectly expresses in Jesus Christ flows from His nature. God can’t help it – He loves you. The Psalmist understood this and trusted in God’s unfailing love. And over and over God’s love proved to be all that David needed to walk in victory. God rescued King David from his own sinfulness and pride and from those who were seeking to destroy him. There were times in David’s life when all he had was the assurance of God’s love. And he expressed his appreciation in song. How can you express your gratitude for God’s unfailing love for you?
