Words from the Heart for Thursday December 21st, 2017

But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins.”

Matthew 1:20-21 (NKJV)

God’s Will Revealed

The Lord definitely honours Joseph’s desire to do the right thing. In a dream he receives direction from the Lord. With no further hesitation, Joseph obeys the Lord.

This past January, the Ipsos Reid polling company revealed the most trusted brands in Canada. They asked Canadians about who they trusted in such varied categories as banks and sunscreens to cars. Now I will reveal some of them. The most trusted brand of sunscreen is Coppertone. Canada’s most trusted pain reliever is Tylenol and car manufacturer is Toyota. The most trusted bank is TD Canada Trust. Canadian Tire, Tim Hortons and Shopper’s Drug Mart are all the most trusted in their category.

God has a plan for your life. The very best place for you to be as a follower of Jesus is right in the very centre of His will. It is the spiritual sweet spot of the believer and it is there that we find God’s perfect peace and abundant joy. So if God wants us to walk in His will for our lives, it is natural for Him to want to reveal His will to us. The good news is that God does reveal His will. Joseph, who would become Jesus’ human father, experienced this. How clear is God’s will revealed to him in Matthew 1:20-21: “But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins.” Seek God’s will in your life. He will not keep it hidden.
