Words from the Heart for Thursday August 17th, 2017

You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me.

Psalm 139:1-2,5 (NIV)

You Know Me

Have you longed for someone to truly know you from the inside out? Have you been disappointed when you do not have the full attention of someone you love? Have you wished that the other person would understand what you are thinking? The Lord is tenderly aware of us and really, really knows us. He has laid His hand on you.

The website Knowing Canada has a wealth of information for anyone who is thinking about visiting or moving to our country. It gives information that we Canadians take for granted – like how the education system works in this country, and how to prepare for a job interview. It also gives some great advice on how to find a home and the steps involved in buying a home once you have found one in which you are interested. Knowing Canada also has information on transportation in Canada, and important topic in such a huge country. The website will help people understand how the various city transit systems work and how the taxis and Uber function. And even if you thought you knew a lot about Canada, there is information on why you need dog insurance!

There are many who live their lives trying to hide their sin from others and from God. They may even deny the existence of God, but they spend their time seeking after things that keep their minds off things eternal – entertainment, drugs and alcohol, sex and pleasure. What a contrast to the man or woman of faith, who has opened their heart to the Lord. The Psalmist writes this in Psalm 139:1-2 and verse 5: “You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me.” When a person comes into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ by faith, all fear of God dissipates. His perfect love casts out all fear. And a longing wells within us to be the man or woman that honours God by who we are and what we do. Knowing that the Lord sees deeply within our hearts and lives doesn’t frighten us – it is what we long for, to have our living God lay His holy hand upon us, empowering us to live a life of purity and victory. Have you allowed the Lord to search you? Has He revealed those things in your life that need to come under His control? Have you offered your whole heart to Him? If not, do so today and experience the fullness of His grace.

These have been words from the heart.
