Words from the Heart for Sunday June 12th, 2016

For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

Psalm 91:11-12 (NIV)

Angels Commanded

If you run to the Lord for protection, God’s promise is that all of His armies will fight for you to keep you. Thank the Lord for His protection and care over your life.

People who are willing to invest in new ventures in Canada are called angel investors, and they are often sought after by entrepreneurs. However, according to report in the Financial Post, startups last year who were looking for angel investors to get them off the ground had a tougher time than in the past. It appears as through angel investors are focusing more in funding those businesses already under their wings. Investing activities among organized angel groups in Canada fell by 15% over the year before. The whole idea of an organized group of angel investors is fairly new, most of them having been formed in the past five years. In 2013, 29 angel groups across Canada made 199 investments to the tune of $89 million. This was more than double the investment in 2012.

The God of the Bible is a powerful God. One of my favourite Bible stories is the meeting between Elijah the prophet of God and the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel. The prophets of Baal, in an effort to get the attention of their god, shout and dance and cut themselves. But their non-existent god cannot be awakened. Finally, Elijah has had enough and covers the altar with water and simply prays for God to send the fire. And immediately the altar breaks out in flame. The God of the Bible is a powerful God. He is powerful in His own right. But He also commands an angel army, who fights for Him in the spiritual realm. Psalm 91:11-12 puts it this way: “For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.” Most of the time we are not aware of the spiritual battle that is taking place around us. God’s angel armies are protecting us at all times and we don’t even realize it. As difficult as the battle can seem to be, imagine how much worse it would be without God’s protective angels around us. All the challenges we face have been allowed by God and knowing this, we can face them with the assurance that the Lord Jesus will never leave us or forsake us. Walk in victory today, knowing that God’s angel armies are all around.
