Words from the Heart for Sunday January 28th, 2018
God made all sorts of wild animals, livestock, and small animals, each able to produce offspring of the same kind. And God saw that it was good.
Genesis 1:25 (NLT)
Offspring of the Same Kind
So much was set in motion on this sixth day of creation. Once again our marvelous Lord is declaring that the variety and activity of the animal kingdom which He has created is good in His eyes. And, the Lord made plans for the animals to have a continued place in our world. We are indeed sharing this space with these that He has created. He has a place for us all.
Jonathan Guy, the son of Newfoundland settler Nicholas Guy, was the first child born to Anglophone parents in Canada, and one of the first born in any part of North America within a permanent settlement. He was born on 27 March 1613 in Cuper’s Cove, a settlement that has been continuously occupied since 1610 and where his family remained long after his birth. The community remains to this day, now known as the town of Cupids, 75 km from St. John’s.
While the Bible is not at its heart a science textbook, the foundation of all of its teaching is that there is a Creator who spoke the world into being. The wisest of scientists recognize that there is intelligent design behind all that is in the world. Evolution teaches that one species developed from another species. The Bible teaches that God created each species as unique. Genesis 1:25 says “God made all sorts of wild animals, livestock, and small animals, each able to produce offspring of the same kind. And God saw that it was good.” Each of the species is able to produce offspring of the same kind. A horse will always produce a horse, a sparrow will always produce a sparrow. A human being creates a human being. God’s plan for creation cannot be thwarted. He is a God of order and we see that in the way He created and what He created. You can trust Him to put His plan for your life in place in just the same way. He will lead you step by step and what He produces in you will make perfect sense.
These have been words from the heart.
