Words from the Heart for Saturday March 17th, 2018
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9 (NIV)
Saved By Grace
What a great and marvelous gift the Lord is waiting to give. We could never do enough to earn our salvation. He has already paid the price through His death on the cross. The price is also paid and the gift is available to all who will call upon Him. Ask the Lord to bring people into your life today that you can share this good news with.
Canada started selling war bonds in 1917 to raise money during World War 1. Five bond campaigns were held from 1915-1919. To advertise the purchasing of Victory Loans, the Victory Loan Dominion Publicity Committee created artwork, held parades, and had celebrity endorsements. Community members who bought many Victory Loans were given a Victory Loan Honour Flag as a thank you. Canada Savings Bonds were first offered in 1945 in an effort to replicate the success of Victory Bonds. Sales were discontinued in 2017.
There is no place for pride in the kingdom of God. The Bible very clearly tells us that if we are to boast, we must only boast in Jesus and what He has done for us. In fact, the heart of the Christian faith leaves no room for any of Jesus’ followers to have any right to boast in anything we have done regarding our salvation. Paul writes in Ephesians 2:8-9: “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.” I have found Christians to be generally hard working people. Those who know the Lord want to serve Him. And there is no lack of things to do for the Kingdom of God and its King. But we need to be sure that we are serving Him because we love Him – simply to say thanks for the gift of eternal life that He has provided through Jesus’ death on the cross. We aren’t earning brownie points with the Lord – we can’t. He simply loves us and offers us the gift of eternal life.
These have been words from the heart.
