Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours, O Lord, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as the one who is over all things.

I Chronicles 29:11 (NLT)

Crown land is the term used to describe land owned by the federal or provincial governments. Authority for control of these public lands rests with the Crown, hence their name. Canada is a massive country, but less than 11% of Canada’s land is in private hands; 41% is federal crown land and 48% is provincial crown land. National and provincial parks, Indian reserves, federal military bases and provincial forests are the largest and most visible allocations of crown land.

We human beings love to cling to everything we own. We go to great lengths to protect what we have from those who would want to take it from us. We invest our money carefully and do all that we can to increase our worth. And if we lose it, we are devastated. Someone once counseled that we should learn that our grip on our material possessions should be lose so when we lose it we aren’t devastated. But the principle of the Kingdom of God is even better. I Chronicles 29:11 puts it this way: “Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours, O Lord, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as the one who is over all things.” These are the words of King David at the end of his life. He recognized as he reached death that nothing in this world has eternal value except the recognition that the Lord is God and everything belongs to Him. What peace we would have if we recognized that all we have belongs to the Lord.

These have been words from the heart.
