Words from the Heart for Monday May 30th, 2016
God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.” And it was so. God called the dry ground “land,” and the gathered waters he called “seas.” And God saw that it was good. …“Let the land produce vegetation”… And it was so. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening, and there was morning— the third day.
Genesis 1:9-13 (NIV)
The Third Day
God’s creation is filled with colour – the black and white of day and night, the blue of sky and sea, the multitude shades of green. Observe the many colours around you and consider the many colours of God’s glory!
Canada is officially a multi-party democracy, but federally, only the Liberal and Conservative Parties have ever formed the government. There are a number of third parties, however, and these have come and gone over the years. Officially the third party in Canadian politics is whoever is the party who has the third most seats either federally or provincially and these change regularly. The federal election of 2011 saw a realignment of Canadian party politics as the New Democratic Party made significant gains, allowing it to emerge as the official opposition. For the first time in Canadian history the Liberal Party was reduced to third party status. The Bloc Québécois which had been the third largest party in the House of Commons since 1997 was reduced to only four seats. The New Democratic Party returned to third party status in the federal election of 2015.
God was busy on the third day of creation. The earth, which had been created as without form and in darkness, would have, by the end of this day, very clear form and it would be lush with vegetation. Genesis 1:9-13: “God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.” And it was so. God called the dry ground “land,” and the gathered waters he called “seas.” And God saw that it was good. “Let the land produce vegetation”… And it was so. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening, and there was morning— the third day.” God begins the day by separating land and water, creating the continents and the oceans. We don’t know the shape of the continents at this point, but they would have looked far different than they do now. They are still shifting, but scientists tell us that at one time there was one large continent that has since shifted to form the world as we know it today. We do know that the global flood of Genesis 6-9 would have changed the shape of the world significantly. Whatever it looked like, God caused the land to produce vegetation which would have flourished like a rain forest in the terrarium that was the earth. God was preparing everything for the highest of His creation that would come a few days later.
These have been words from the heart.
