Words from the Heart for Monday February 13th, 2017

The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him.

Psalm 24:1 (NLT)

The Earth Is The Lord’s

What an important truth as we look at our world and all that is happening today. It may seem to us from watching the news that our God is an intruder. He is not! He is Creator God. He sent His Son to die for all people everywhere. That opens up the way for people to come to Him. He’s calling us to take this good news to our world. He has no desire to leave anyone out. All may come.

Canada is a massive country and only 11% of its land is privately owned. The rest is known as Crown land, which is land owned by either federal or provincial governments. 41% of non-privately owned land in Canada is federal crown land and 48% is provincial crown land. Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut are administered on behalf of Canada by Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development through the Territorial Lands Act and Public Lands Grants Act. About 4% of federally administered land is found in the provinces, the rest in the Territories and National Parks. Provincial crown land ownership varies, too, from a high of 95% in Newfoundland to less than 2% in PEI. National and provincial parks, Indian reserves, federal military bases and provincial forests are the largest and most visible allocations of crown land.

The Bible begins with Creation. In the beginning, God created. Just three chapters later sin entered into the human experience and the relationship that God had with His creation came to an end. The Bible tells us that all of creation was negatively affected by the fall. This is no longer the perfect world that God had created. But that doesn’t mean that this is no longer God’s world. Psalm 24:1 tells us “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him.” Long after sin had destroyed relationships and creation, David knew that God was still the Lord of this world. People from every nation had walked away from the Lord, but David says all the people of the world belong to the Lord. Even those who don’t recognize their need for a Saviour or who don’t acknowledge the Lord God. You can deny the reality of God and turn your back on all that is pure and holy, but the Lord is still God and He loves you. How sad it is that so many people refuse to accept that reality of God and so cannot experience God’s deep love for them. To illustrate: If someone steals your car it is still your car. Satan has stolen people from their Creator. But those who are lost to God still belong to Him. No wonder we experience such joy when we are redeemed by His grace.
