Words from the Heart for Monday April 30th, 2018
Praise him, you kings of the earth and all nations. Praise him, all you princes and rulers on earth.Praise him, young men and women. Praise him, old men and children.
Psalm 148:11-12 (NIRV)
Praise from People
Not only is the Lord glorified through the universe which He has made, but He is also the highest authority over all the leaders of the world. From the leader of the most powerful nation to the smallest child, His praise is due! Let it not be that man made in His image on that sixth day holds back His praise. He is worthy of it all.
The world loves the Yukon Gold potato, a completely Canadian spud. Bred at the University of Guelph in 1966, it has become a global hit. At the 2016 Oscars, 600 kg of roasted Yukon Golds were served to the Hollywood elite, along with crème fraiche and Caspian caviar, prepared at the command of Wolfgang Puck. Queen Elizabeth II dines on the potato at Buckingham Palace; Rachael Ray calls for it in her recipes; and Chelsea Clinton endorses it as a personal favourite.
Over the past few years, in her Christmas message to the Commonwealth, Queen Elizabeth has expressed her gratitude to Jesus Christ for being the bedrock of her life and faith. I find it fascinating that perhaps the wealthiest and most powerful monarch on earth recognizes her need for a Saviour and Lord. She is not the first ruler to do so. Millenia ago, King David of Israel called on his fellow rulers, and those he and they ruled, to lift up praise to the Creator God. Psalm 148:11-12 puts it this way: “Praise him, you kings of the earth and all nations. Praise him, all you princes and rulers on earth. Praise him, young men and women. Praise him, old men and children.” Every single human being, no matter what our position or status, has so much for which to praise God. He gives us life and breath, He pours out His blessings on us daily, He cares for us and provides for us. Without Him we would have nothing and be nothing. Whether you are powerful or not, take time today to consider all the reasons you have to praise your Creator, and then do so!
These have been words from the heart.
