Words from the Heart for Friday November 24th, 2017

She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.

Proverbs 31:25 (NLT)

Clothed with Strength and Dignity

Fear of the future at any age can cripple our hopes and cause us to dread what might come. In this closing proverb there is a picture of a very productive wife, mother, and successful businesswoman. It’s not her latest outfit that catches our attention. Rather, it is her strength and dignity. There’s no anxious conversation about her future. Is she just strong by nature? No. She is described as a woman who fears the Lord. That is the secret of her security.

Canada Goose down-filled jackets are some of the most popular, and expensive, in the world. Because of their popularity, fake Canada Goose jackets are often sold online through counterfeit websites. Instead of duck down, counterfeits use an insulation called “feather mulch”, which is a less effective insulator. In addition, the counterfeit logo patch is often poorly sewn, in contrast to its genuine counterpart where the maple leaves are produced in fine detail. Canada Goose products are only sold via authorized retailers.

While the world looks for the right brand name and the right logo on the clothes they wear, the Lord looks at something altogether different for what matters. Proverbs 31:25 says this: “She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.” A true man or woman of God understands that while man looks on the outside, God looks on the heart. And when a heart is filled with the things of the Lord, the life is marked by strength and dignity. The Lord gives the ability to overcome all that life throws their way. God’s strength shines through the life of all who have yielded to His will. And when a man and woman of God is strengthened by Him, they are empowered to live a life above the temptation and sin that so easily entangles. The result is a life of dignity. And a life that has the assurance of God’s plan being worked out in their lives so that the future is secure. This ought to be the goal of every follower of Christ – to live a life that brings honour to the Lord.
