God’s Mercy is Everlasting

When Canada established its NATO Air Division in 1953, it was based in the historic Chateau Mercy near Metz, France. The battle-scarred Chateau is located on a rise of land about 6 kilometers outside Metz, probably the most heavily fortified city in Europe at the time. With more than a thousand years of recorded history behind its original counterpart, Chateau Mercy stands in the middle of Europe’s traditional invasion route. A Roman villa occupied the strategic site during the third century AD.

Lifelong love is a wonderful gift. A long marriage takes work, but it is filled with wonderful memories, shared experiences, care for each other, deep respect, mercy, and forgiveness offered. Humans celebrate this kind of love – it is what we all long for. If this is so with human love, there is good news. The Bible teaches that God’s love is everlasting. We experience His love and mercy the moment we place our faith and hope in Jesus Christ. 1 Chronicles 16:34 says “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.” Our response to God’s love and mercy and is always to give thanks. That should be as easy as breathing for everyone who has experienced that love and mercy. God is good by nature, so He can’t do anything but do good and offer mercy. We experience that mercy and love in so many ways every day – every good and perfect gift comes from God, the Bible says. In response to every good gift that God send our way is to offer thanks. Take time today to say thank you for everything that God sends your way.

These have been words from the heart.
