Let all of them praise the name of the Lord, because at his command they were created.

Psalm 148:5 (NIRV)

Created at His Command

All of creation exists because of a command from the eternal God. In the beginning He spoke and framed the entire universe with His word. Is that not reason enough for all of creation to praise Him? It is! Yet man made in His image often tries to ignore the commands of the Lord. We owe Him our very existence. Let that truth cause obedience to be our choice. Are there things He has commanded that you have left undone? Make the change today.

The Canadian Expeditionary Force Command was created in 2006 as an operational element of the Canadian Forces for operations outside of Canada. It merged into the Canadian Joint Operations Command in 2012. In 2011, over 3,900 servicemen were deployed under the Command, the majority of which were part of the Joint Task Force – Afghanistan. In July 2011, the authorized strength of the Command in Afghanistan was 1,959 servicemen for two operations, that is, Operation Athena and Operation Attention.

I saw a cartoon once that had six little pet doors along the bottom of the door in a kitchen. A friend asked the home owner why he had six little doors, and this answer came: “Because I have six kittens, and when I say “scat” I mean “scat!” If a pet owner has that much power over their animals, imagine the kind of power that our God has over all of His creation. Listen to how the Psalmist puts it in Psalm 148:5, “Let all of them praise the name of the Lord, because at his command they were created.” This verse comes in the middle of a number of verses that speak of the praise that continually pours forth from God’s creation. Simply by their being, they are praising the God who created them. We ought to have the same impact on those around us. While sin has marred God’s creation, including us, those of us who have been redeemed by Jesus Christ, and who now contain the Holy Spirit Himself, ought to offer praise to our Creator by who we are and by how we act. When others look at you, do they see Jesus?

These have been words from the heart.
