Words from the Heart for Wednesday September 23rd, 2020
For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
Psalm 91:11-12 (NIV)
Angels Guarding You
Angel investors are wealthy, experienced business people who invest their time and money in your high-growth business in exchange for equity. According to Yuri Navarro, former Executive Director of the National Angel Capital Organization, “There are anywhere from 20,000 to 50,000 angel investors in Canada. Besides the visible community, there are many who invest, but who don’t advertise it.” Angels are often the first ones to invest in early-stage businesses and that carries a lot of weight in the eyes of future investors.
We don’t often see angels. In fact, I would think that very few Christians ever see an angel. But the pages of the Bible record the role of angels in the lives of God’s people, and they play a vital role in God’s care for us. The Psalmist writes this in Psalm 91:11-12: “For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.” You might recognize these verses in the story of Jesus’ temptation in the wilderness – Satan uses them in calling Jesus to throw Himself off the highest point of the Temple to prove God really will protect Him. Jesus doesn’t fall for this, of course, but it tells us that even Satan knew that what this Psalm teaches is true. God has sent angels to protect us from the power of the enemy of our souls. We will not know just how much they have protected us until we get to Glory and all is revealed. But you can live your life today knowing that God is protecting you from spiritual harm.
