Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
1 Peter 5:7 NIV
Anxiety
This past January, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health reported that “Adult Canadians are reporting levels of moderate to severe anxiety, loneliness and feelings of depression as high as early in the pandemic. This final survey of the series was completed by 1,004 Canadians between January 7 and 11, 2022. Overall, a quarter of survey participants reported feeling moderate to severe anxiety, significantly higher than the 19.0 percent reported in the last survey completed in July 2021.

So many people these days suffer from anxiety. In a world of pandemic, inflation and potential recession, in a day when violence is on the rise and families are dealing with pressures not dreamt of a generation ago, it is no wonder that people are more and more anxious. Life has never been easy. People in Biblical times were dealing with anxiety as well. So many lived day-to-day, unsure where their next meal was coming from. So, the apostle writes this in 1 Peter 5:7: “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” Peter was writing to a group of Christians who were suffering severe persecution. Many had been arrested and beaten for their faith. Peter recognized that they were anxious about the future – they were normal people like you and me and anxiety would have been natural. Peter reminds them that Jesus cares – He loves them dearly. And He alone can speak peace into the hearts of those who cast their care upon Him. Whatever you are facing, bring your care and anxiety to Jesus, and in prayer place it all on Jesus – He will carry your concerns and will replace your anxiety with His peace. He really does care.
These have been words from the heart.
