If you love Me, keep My commandments.
John 14:15 (NKJV)
If You Love Me
In an online article, Cottage Life magazine gives 15 reasons why the world loves Canada. Reason #12 is titled “our vast wilderness.” It says, “A lot of foreigners are truly amazed when they discover just how large Canada is. With 10 provinces and three territories, Canada is the second largest country by land mass and is home to the most lakes in the world – 20 percent of the earth’s freshwater resources. More than half of Canada is covered in trees – 10% of the world’s forests.
I love weddings. I’ve officiated at many of them over the years, and it never ceases to amaze me how heartfelt and meaningful the vows are that are written and shared by the bride and groom. Because of their love for each other they promise to remain faithful to each other for the rest of their lives. That is quite a promise. It is also solidly Biblical. In John 14:15 Jesus says this: “If you love Me, keep My commandments.” Our relationship to the Lord Jesus is based on love. We love Him because He first loved us and gave Himself up for us on the Cross. By so doing, He took the punishment we deserve for our sins. As the Bible says, there is no greater love than this. Because of His love for us, we love Him. And to express that love, we walk in obedience to Him. The good news is that Jesus never gives an unfunded mandate. He always provides all we need to keep His commandments. If you truly love the Lord Jesus, your greatest desire will be to express that love in how you live your life today.
