Words from the Heart for Wednesday October 3rd, 2018

For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him…

II Chronicles 16:9 (NKJV)

The Eyes of the Lord

It is amazing that the mighty God who created all things is intimately aware of each of us. He knows no limitation of space and time. And, we see His longing to act in strength on behalf of those whose hearts are loyal to Him. Do not fear that your God will overlook you. He knows right where you are and He knows the desires of your heart.

You might be surprised to learn that World Sight Day is just 8 days away. Held each year on the second Thursday of October, World Sight Day is sponsored by The International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness. The goal in 2018 is to draw attention to eye care issues. Here in Canada, Canadian eye professionals are encouraging children to spend at least two hours a day outdoors. It helps eyes focus on things further away which helps with eye health.

We know that God doesn’t have a body like we do. Many picture God as an old man with a white beard sitting on a nice fluffy cloud judging everyone and every thing. Nothing could be further from the truth. The Bible teaches that God is Spirit. When Jesus came, He took on real flesh and real blood, and in Him the Godhead dwelt in physical form. But the great God of the universe is not bound by human flesh and blood. He is so far greater than that. But in order to help us come to grips with this great God, sometimes the Bible uses the physical to drive home a spiritual point. Such is the case with 2 Chronicles 16:9: “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him…” God’s physical eyes – He doesn’t have any – are not running about the universe. The point that is being made is that God doesn’t miss a thing. And He is looking at all that is happening so He can come to the aid of all whose heart is loyal to Him.

These have been words from the heart.
