We know that God, who raised the Lord Jesus, will also raise us with Jesus and present us to himself together with you.

Raised Up

According to a new Ipsos-Reid/CTV/Globe and Mail survey of Canadian parents released in August, 43% of parents believe they are doing a “better job” at raising children than their parents did and 50% say they are doing “about the same job.” 28% of parents agree with the statement “I schedule my children into too many activities compared to my parents.” Seven in ten, however, agree that “parents today over-schedule their children into events and don’t allow them free time to just be kids.”

No parents are perfect, but most work diligently at raising their children to be productive citizens. A Christian parents greatest prayer is that they will raise their children to walk with Jesus and love Him fully. When the Bible speaks of God raising us up, it is in an entirely different context. Here is what Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 4:14: “We know that God, who raised the Lord Jesus, will also raise us with Jesus and present us to himself together with you.” This is a great promise from God. God’s desire is to prepare us not only for this life, but for eternity. When we enter into a relationship with Jesus Christ, we are given the promise of eternal life. It begins the moment we confess our faith in Jesus, and we live in this life with the peace that He gives by removing our sins and empowering us to live a life of victory. But it also gives us that assurance that the moment we breathe our last breath here on earth, we will appear with God in glory. Just as God raised Jesus from death to life, so He will raise us. To be absent from the body is to present with the Lord.
