Words from the Heart for Wednesday October 20th, 2021
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.
2 Timothy 3:16 (NLT)
Inspired by God
Many of Canada’s literary talents have found inspiration in writing about places which held significance to them. These writers are now stamped in the Canadian consciousness as are the places they immortalized in their works. Their homes have become commemorative testaments to their creative inspiration, and places of pilgrimage for readers wishing to know more about the basis for this inspiration. These include, among others, Stephen Leacock’s home in Orillia, Ontario and the Bliss Carmen House in Fredericton New Brunswick.
Since the beginning of time, Satan has been putting doubt into the minds of people about the trustworthiness of God’s Word. He asked Eve in the Garden of Eden. “Did God really say?” And then he misquoted what God really did say! The foundation of some of the world’s cults and religions, like Mormonism and Islam, is that the Bible has been corrupted and can’t really be trusted. And in this day of increasing Biblical illiteracy among followers of Jesus, there are many even in evangelical churches who don’t believe that the Bible can really be trusted. God knew that the enemy would put such doubts in people’s minds, so regularly in Scripture He speaks about the inspiration of Scripture. Nowhere is this clearer than in 2 Timothy 3:16: “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.” The totality of Scripture is breathed by God, Paul writes to his young friend Timothy. You can trust the Bible. Read it regularly and study is seriously. It is given to you by God.
These have been words from the heart.
