I have always found it interesting to watch little children being offered something to eat that they have never tasted before. Particularly if they are picky eaters, they will look at it, turn up their noses, and push the plate or bowl away from them. You can tell them until you are blue in the face that you know they are going to like it, but they will just continue to refuse. This is a bit of a parable about the response some people have to the good news that Jesus loves them and will remove their sin and shame if they will only invite Him to do so. It has always been this way. In his day, King David wrote this in Psalm 34:8: “Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.” If a person would just put their faith and trust in Jesus, that person would discover just how wonderful a relationship with Him is. He is honey to the soul, quenching water for the spirit, bread that will fill the spiritual hunger that is so often the experience of human beings. Reach out to Jesus today – taste and see how good He is.
These have been words from the heart.
