Words from the Heart for Wednesday November 6th, 2019
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
John 14:6-7 (NIV)
The Only Way
If you decide to drive across Canada you will experience some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. And the most varied. Coastal beauty, the rugged Canadian Shield, the broad prairies, the rugged Rockies. In most parts of Canada you have choices about what road you want to take. Except from Nipigon Ontario to Shabaqua through Thunder Bay. There is no other highway.
The Christian Gospel is narrow. Which is why it isn’t often very popular. The mantra of the day in which we live is tolerance, and the implication is that anyone who claims to have the corner on the truth, or is uniquely correct is mocked and spurned. But Jesus often spoke about His uniqueness. He said the road to destruction is broad, but the road to eternal life is narrow. The Bible teaches that there is no other name given among human beings by which we must be saved, other than the name of Jesus. And if this isn’t all narrow enough, Jesus said in John 14:6-7: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.” There are lots of religious and philosophical teachers who will tell you they have some truth to share with you. But Jesus said He IS the Truth, as well as the way and the life and the only way to eternal life is through Him. This is only possible if He really is God with skin on, which He is. Trust him today as your Saviour and Lord. He is the only way.
These have been words from the heart.
