He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!
Psalm 103:5 (NLT)
He Fills My Life With Good things
Once again from nature the Lord presents us with a powerful picture and a wonderful spiritual truth. Our God is good. He fills our lives with good things. The eagle is unique among the created birds of the air. It has strong wings for flight. But, when it is weary and its wings become worn, it can go into a hidden place and experience the growth of new feathers. Then, it rises again in renewed strength. That is what the Lord desires for us.
CNN Travel recently posted an article online that lists the ten things that Canada does better. It begins with this: “In Canada, apologies happen constantly — “sorries” flying in from all sides like swarms of affable killer bees. Apologies are issued not just for some negligible mishap, but for actually having the gall to be on the receiving end of one. A Queen’s University poll titled “Sorry … I’m Canadian,” found that 90% of Canadians aged 18-25 will immediately apologize if a stranger bumps into them.
The reality of life is that it is filled with both blessing and challenges. As we look back over the years, in hindsight we see the course of our lives and recognize that even the challenging times resulted in blessing – this is one of the foundational principles of the kingdom of God. It is often in the difficulties that we have learned to really trust God, and have seen Him work His miracles in our lives. The Psalmist certainly wasn’t immune from the hard times – like all of us, sometimes he brought those tough times on himself. But through it all, he was able to say in Psalm 103:5: “He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!” As we get older, and our youth is further and further in the past, we recognize that while our bodies may be fading away, in our spiritual lives we are renewed each day. I have learned so much from what I’ve been through, and I suspect you have as well. Take time today to recognize the good things with which the Lord has filled your life.
These have been words from the heart.
