Praise the Lord. Blessed are those who fear the Lord, who find great delight in his commands.

Delight
According to the Tripsavvy.com website, foreign tourists find Canada delightful. “The expanse of Canada’s natural beauty, from mountains and glaciers to secluded lakes and forests, is almost unparalleled worldwide. But Canada’s allure is not just the great outdoors. Canada has cosmopolitan cities that are clean, safe, friendly, and multicultural. In fact, Canada repeatedly is lauded as one of the world’s most livable countries. Whether your interests are river rafting or live theater, Canada won’t disappoint.”

We take delight in those we love. We delight in our spouse, our children, our grandchildren. We love to spend time with them and we celebrate their victories. We remain faithful to them because we love them. This is the principle that King David is driving at when he writes this in Psalm 112:1: “Praise the Lord. Blessed are those who fear the Lord, who find great delight in his commands.” God had laid out in His law how He expected His people to live. It set Israel apart from the pagan nations around them. David had learned that God did this because He loved them and wanted to spare them from the pain that sin and guilt bring to every human heart. David understood this, and because he loved the Lord, he found great delight in living a life that honoured God and brought Him joy. We are called to live a life that does the same. We love Jesus because He first loved us and gave His life for us. Empowered by Him, we find great delight in living according to kingdom of God principles – because we love Him. No wonder we are blessed when we delight in His commands – we know we are loved by our Creator.
These have been words from the heart.
