Words from the Heart for Wednesday November 14th, 2018
They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.
Isaiah 11:9 (NIV)
Let Heaven and Earth Praise Him
In times of distress it builds our faith to read these verses which speak of the Lord’s future victory. We may never have seen a world where the knowledge of the Lord fills the entire world. Just like the sea cannot stop the water from covering all of it, so the Lord will cause it to happen just like He says. He is God!
The Beaufort Sea is a marginal sea of the Arctic Ocean, located north of the Northwest Territories, the Yukon, and Alaska, and west of Canada’s Arctic islands. The sea is named after Sir Francis Beaufort, a hydrographer. The Mackenzie River, the longest in Canada, empties into the Canadian part of the Beaufort Sea west of Tuktoyaktuk, which is one of the few permanent settlements on the sea’s shores. The sea, characterized by severe climate, is frozen over most of the year.
The world’s oceans cover 71% of the planet. You can travel by ship to every continent. Amazingly, 90% of the world’s goods are transported by sea. It is almost impossible for us to grasp the immensity of the oceans and seas. Which makes a prophecy about God’s kingdom just as challenging to comprehend. Isaiah 11:7-8 says: “They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.” Here, in what is known as the West, the knowledge of God’s Word, and so the knowledge of God Himself, is on the decline. Fewer and fewer of even committed Christians are reading and studying the Bible. But across the globe, the Church of Jesus Christ is exploding. Never before has there been so many followers of Jesus on the planet. It is pointing to the day that Isaiah looked forward and saw for you – a day when the knowledge of the Lord will cover the planet. When Jesus returns to lead His Kingdom, the day Isaiah saw will come to pass.
These have been words from the heart.
