Words from the Heart for Wednesday May 29th, 2019
But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. I will sing the Lord’s praise, for he has been good to me.
Psalm 13:5-6 (NIV)
He Has Been Good to Me
Last October, Vancouver Province journalist Tara Carmen visited a Burnaby, BC school district English language class to speak to students about life as a journalist. Toward the end of the talk, I asked the students what kinds of stories they would like to see in the local media. “We never get the chance to say thank you to Canada,” said student Comfort Mamie Chea, referring to recently arrived immigrants. David Tang, who emmigrated from China in 2016 spoke about how Canada has been good to him, and added “we will do our best to help others and contribute to Canadian society.”
King David had a deep relationship with the Living God. And the Lord give him an intimacy with Himself and an insight into grace that was unique in his day. He had a personal relationship with the Living God that is an inspiration to those of us who have met the living God through faith in Jesus Christ. Listen to his words in Psalm 13:5-6: “But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. I will sing the Lord’s praise, for he has been good to me.” This ought to be heart cry of every follower of Jesus. We have experienced his unfailing love as we have experienced the joy of sins forgiven and guilt lifted. We have experienced him in worship and in prayer. In our most challenging times he has drawn close and he has protected, provided and supported us. Our response needs to be what David’s was – to sing the Lord’s praise. Take some time today – you don’t have to wait until Sunday – to worship the Lord for all he has done for you. He has been good to me.
These have been words from the heart.
