Words from the Heart for Wednesday May 19th, 2021
This is indeed the will of my Father, that all who see the Son and believe in him may have eternal life; and I will raise them up on the last day.
John 6:40 (NRSV)
The Will of My Father
In order to limit the spread of COVID-19, the U.S. reached agreements with both Canada and Mexico to limit all non-essential travel across borders. Working closely and collaboratively, the Department of Homeland Security is part of a North American approach to stop the spread of the virus. As of April 20, 2020, the US no longer detains illegal immigrants in holding facilities and immediately returns these aliens to the country they entered from – Canada or Mexico. Even if there is a will, there isn’t necessarily a way.
Every human being has dreams, wishes, desires. They are what get us out of bed in the morning and drive us to keep moving on. We look forward to having children, taking a vacation, being able to retire, or to have a comfortable place to live. You know what hopes and plans you are putting in place to reach those dreams. The challenge is that we don’t know if our dreams will come true. How many vacation plans, for example, have had to be put on hold because of the pandemic? The only One whose will always comes to pass is the God who created all things and who is sovereign. Jesus tells us this in John 6:40: “This is indeed the will of my Father, that all who see the Son and believe in him may have eternal life; and I will raise them up on the last day.” You can count on all of this coming to pass. All who put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ do have eternal life. Every follower of Jesus will be raised up on the last day. That’s the best wish ever.
These have been words from the heart.
