Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

Perfect Gift

Do you want to send a quintessential Canadian gift to a friend or family member outside of Canada, and are wondering what to send? The canadacrossroads.com website has some excellent ideas. They say “Canada is full of incredible experiences and memorable souvenirs that you can take home with you as a reminder of your travels. Whether it’s a cozy knitted sweater to keep you warm or the perfect maple syrup for your pancakes in the morning, there are plenty of unique finds to be had in Canada.”

Our lives are filled with good things. Even in the most challenging of times, even when life is bleak, we have people who care for us and who want the best for us. If you have a roof over your head and had at least one decent meal today, you have something for which to be thankful. The Bible tells us that every blessing we have in our lives comes from God. Jesus’ brother James speaks to this in his epistle. James 1:17 says “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” What a blessing to know that the source of all we have isn’t what the world has to offer. The ultimate giver of all good isn’t our boss or Canadian Tire – it is the Lord who provides all good things. And because He doesn’t change, like shifting shadows James says, we can count on Him to continue to pour out His blessings upon us. Take time today to recognize that the Father of the Heavenly Lights is the source of all good things, and take time to thank Him.

These have been words from the heart.
