Words from the Heart for Wednesday June 6th, 2018

O Lord, what a variety of things you have made! In wisdom you have made them all. The earth is full of your creatures.

Psalm 104:24 (NLT)

What a Variety

Truly the creatures of the earth are made with such variety. Yet, each one carries the evidence of His divine design. The Lord looks upon you as His special creation. There is only one you! He has a very unique plan for your life. He delights in you and loves to have you serve Him as no one else can.

There are five varieties of lawn grass in Canada, but the most popular by far is Kentucky Bluegrass. It is a cool-season grass and has the deep blue-green colour that is so popular. It is cold-hardy as well as heat-hardy, which means it is dependable for many climates. It likes full sunlight, but a little shade is all right. It should be watered frequently and needs well-drained soil because it has a shallow root system. Kentucky bluegrass can be fertilized regularly, and flourishes in the fall and spring.

As the Psalmist looked around the world that God had made, he was astounded by the variety within the animal and plant kingdom. He writes this in Psalm 104:24, “O Lord, what a variety of things you have made! In wisdom you have made them all. The earth is full of your creatures.” The God we serve is amazingly creative. Even the most creative human being can only create from what is available around them. No human being can create ex nihili, from nothing, as God did. He created the glorious colours and the intricate details of the tiniest insect and the largest of whales… out of nothing. I can’t begin to imagine how He did this – which is why He is God. But in God’s creation we see the majesty of His nature and His power and authority. Take time today to get outside, even into the garden, and marvel at the variety within creation. Look for His hand in everything. Then thank the Creator God for the gift of the beautiful that is found all around us in his creation.
