Words from the Heart for Wednesday June 2nd, 2021
So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind.
Genesis 1:21-22 (NIV)
The biggest animal on earth calls Canada home (at least part of the time). Blue whales, which can grow up to 27 m long and weigh up to 132 tonnes, are found in Canadian waters along Canada’s east coast. Not only are blue whales the largest creature on the planet, they’re also the loudest. Their cry can reach 186 decibels, louder than a jet plane. The largest land animal in North America is the wood bison, which can be found in Alberta, Manitoba and the Northwest Territories.
The variety of creatures that live in the oceans, seas, rivers and lakes of the world is staggering. Add to those numbers the variety of birds and other animals that fill the sky and it is almost uncountable. Ornithologists and oceanographers can spend a lifetime studying all of this, and still not have a complete grasp of all that lives in the waters and the skies. But listen to what Genesis 1:21-22 says: “So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind.” God not only knows each one of these creatures, He spoke them into being. He created them perfectly for their habitat and placed them where they would thrive. All that we study in science class about birds and water inhabitants was designed by the God who keeps an eye on each one. It is beyond our imagination how God could do all of this and keep it all in order, but He did and He does. He has no trouble keeping an eye on you, either.
These have been words from the heart.
