Words from the Heart for Wednesday June 20th, 2018
And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe.
Hebrews 1:2 (NLT)
In These Final Days
We are living in days of an amazing plan of God. The message of the Gospel still fits our world. God has not only made promises to us that are reliable, He has also made a promise to His Son. As co-Creator, the Son has rights to the world. And, because of the work of the cross, there will be an inheritance of souls redeemed from among all nations.
One hundred years ago, Manitou Beach was a boomtown. In the 1920s, it was the most popular tourist destination in Western Canada after Banff, with multiple pools, health clinics and resort amenities. Danceland opened in 1930 with a dance floor laid without nails on a thick pile of horsehair, making it flexible and soft for dancers. The area’s popularity waned during the Great Depression, but today many still travel to the unpretentious Prairie to visit the Manitou Springs Resort and Mineral Spa, where the lake water is filtered and heated year-round.
God is seldom silent. He has spoken often and regularly to the world that He created. The Bible is filled with God’s messages to His people. He spoke directly to Adam, Noah, Abraham and Moses. He placed judges over Israel; He called prophets to speak on His behalf. The Hebrew Scriptures are a record of God’s message to the world. All of this was leading to His ultimate method of speaking. The New Testament book of Hebrews describes it this way in Hebrews 1:2, “And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe.” Jesus is the final word. John the apostle calls Him the Logos – the Word. When He was born into our world, He came with the message of God’s redemption, but more than that He is the message. In not only what He spoke and taught, but in all that did. In His great compassion, He taught us about God’s love and grace that can change our lives. How has He spoken into your life?
These have been words from the heart.
