He loves whatever is just and good; the unfailing love of the Lord fills the earth.

Psalm 33:5 (NLT)

Unfailing Love

This psalm gives us a window into the heart of our God. He is a good God and loves whatever is just and good. He first filled the whole earth with life in creation. Now, He fills the earth with His unfailing love. What part of your world needs the reminder of His unfailing love today?

Show me the love, Canada. According to a 2017 report from the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development, the OECD, 93% of Canadians have relatives or friends whom they can count on to help in times of need. While this is down by 3% from the year before, life satisfaction in Canada has remained relatively unchanged in the past ten years. In fact, both feelings of security and life satisfaction are among the highest in the OECD area.

One of the most beloved verses in the Bible is John 3:16 – “for God so loved the world that he sent His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but receive eternal life.” The foundation of the Gospel is the love of God for the entire world. He created it all and He loves it with an unconditional love. But what John 3:16 teaches about the love of God is nothing new in Biblical revelation. Psalm 33:5 teaches us this: “He loves whatever is just and good; the unfailing love of the Lord fills the earth.” As usual, the Bible puts God’s love into context. He doesn’t love everything. His heart breaks over sin and injustice. Jesus, the fullness of the Godhead in human form, got angry when He saw the effects of sin, and when people were being unjustly treated. He hates sin and He hates the result of sin. But that doesn’t in any way lessen His love. In fact, it is because He loves us that those things that harm us cause God to get righteously indignant. God loves you deeply, and because of His love, wants to set you free.
